MIPCOM

MIPCOM is the leading international television and digital content exhibition and conference for co-producing, buying and selling, financing and distributing entertainment content across all platforms.  It provides the key international decision-makers in the film, television and digital sectors with a unique global market and networking forum.

MIPCOM 2011, which took place in the Palais des Festivals, Cannes, France, 3-6 October, brought together some 12,600 delegates from 102 countries.  One of the central themes of the event was that after years of debate, digital, online and mobile will work together with, rather than against, television to grow entertainment audiences.

An increasing number of recognised film names are making the cross-over into television and MIPCOM 2011 welcomed a string of stars.  Directors Werner Herzog and Paul Verhoeven walked the red carpet.  Kiefer Sutherland gave a keynote interview and playwright and ‘Shakespeare in Love’ screenwriter, Sir Tom Stoppard, graced MIPCOM with his presence.

MIPCOM’s 2011 Focus on Russia, conference and networking sessions encouraged a 20% increase in the number of Russian companies attending which hit 120.  Among the heavyweight Russian representatives was Channel One Russia CEO Konstantin Ernst, one of the most powerful and respected figures in Russian media.
